Even now, all possible feelings do not yet exist.

“Even now, all possible feelings do not yet exist, there are still those that lie beyond our capacity and our imagination. From time to time, when a piece of music no one has ever written or a painting no one has ever painted, or something else impossible to predict, fathom or yet describe takes place, a new feeling enters the world. And then, for the millionth time in the history of feeling, the heart surges and absorbs the impact.”

Bogart

bo·gart
From actor Humphrey Bogart's sense of selfishness and excess, the term has evolved from the original 1960’s use meaning “keep a joint in the mouth instead of passing it on”, recalling the actor’s signature practice of constantly keeping a cigarette dangling out of his mouth, even while talking. Other senses of “bullying” or “tough guy” also recall the actor’s various movie roles.

The Greatest Discovery

“The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter themselves by altering their attitudes of mind.”

- William James

Bound 3 So Much To Love

We’ve all been there; two Hollywood superstars lounging around on set waiting for the next shot. It’s hot, you’re bored. Lunch isn’t for another hour. Talk idly turns to the new Kanye West/Kim Kardashian video directed by Nick Knight (below); an idea takes shape. What recreate the whole thing? Shot for shot? We couldn’t James… could we? They only ruddy did…

“People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.”
- Sam Levenson

Film: Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola reunite for stunning Prada film

While you’re waiting for The Grand Budapest Hotel to hurry up and get itself into the bloody cinemas, keep yourself entertained and Wes-ed up with Mr. Anderson and Roman Coppola’s latest work for Prada. Following on from their March collaboration with the fashion brand on a series of films for their new fragrance they’re back with old pal Jason Schwartzman as a fast-talking 1950s racing driver who crashes in his ancestral village in Italy, loud-mouthing around with the locals and stuffing his face with spaghetti. Obviously it’s visually stunning as well as hilarious, so get watching – this is vintage Anderson!

"You cannot find peace by avoiding life." -Virginia Woolf, The Hours

"This is my right; it is the right of every human being. I choose not the suffocating anesthetic of the suburbs, but the violent jolt of the Capital, that is my choice. The meanest patient, yes, even the very lowest is allowed some say in the matter of her own prescription."

"What does it mean to regret when you have no choice. It was death. I chose life."

"To look life in the face, always, to look life in the face, and to know it for what it is...at last, to love it for what it is, and then, to put it away. Always the years, always the love, always the hours."

Is The Man Who Is Tall Happy?

A new Michel Gondry film (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep) features the director in conversation with legendary activist, philosopher and world-renowned genius Noam Chomsky. Their deep chats exploring aspects of life you hadn’t even considered before are all illustrated and animated by Gondry himself, making this film almost a hundred percent the cultural highlight of the year. All we can do now is hold hands and wait until we can actually watch the full version and sit in front of it being showered by the fountain of knowledge and creativity it’s going to pour all over us like maple syrup. Hurry up, time.

Lonesome

“We’re all lonely for something we don’t know we’re lonely for. How else to explain the curious feeling that goes around feeling like missing somebody we’ve never even met?”

 - David Foster Wallace

The Type

If you grow up the type of woman men want to touch,
you can let them touch you.
Sometimes it is not you they are reaching for.
Sometimes it is a bottle. A door. A sandwich. A Pulitzer. Another woman.
But their hands found you first. Do not mistake yourself for a guardian.
Or a muse. Or a promise. Or a victim. Or a snack.
You are a woman. Skin and bones. Veins and nerves. Hair and sweat.
You are not made of metaphors. Not apologies. Not excuses.

Real Conversations

“We need people in our lives with whom we can be as open as possible. To have real conversations with people may seem like such a simple, obvious suggestion, but it involves courage and risk.”

Thomas Moore

White Hot

“I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life. If you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good. Hot is no good, either. White hot and passionate is the only thing to be.”

Roald Dahl

Be Yourself

To put our faith in tangible goals would seem to be, at best, unwise. So we do not strive to be firemen, we do not strive to be bankers, nor policemen, nor doctors. WE STRIVE TO BE OURSELVES.

Hunter S. Thompson
