Return to Grunge

What is this return to 90's grunge trend? I can't decide if I like it or not. I like the edginess the 90's grungesters exuded, but I think it could be translated in a more modern way...maybe mixing in some bleached, torn jeans with a more modern top, occasionally. As much I love the history of fashion I've never been too much of a fan of "backwards dressing."

 

If the Shoe Fits Wear It

I've had a ridiculous craving for ridiculously high shoes. The fashion department at my school is holding an open model call and I want to try out so badly, but you need to be 5'6'' at least which isn't that much of a height requirement but I'm a mere 5'3" and a quarter......sigh (never forget the quarter). Although, I was wondering if they would still let me walk if I showed them my Carrie-esque balance in heels. Heels that made me inches taller than 5'6"!!

Rodarte Fall/Winter 09....I adore the variety of not only colors and lines throughout Rodarte's fall collection but the contrast of textures as well. I'm not sure contrast is the right word. The variation amongst fabric, color, and design is more complimentary than contrasting, but they seem to make each other stand out as well. Rodarte definitely brought an editing eye to their creativity this season which means it will probably translate successfully into mainstream i.e. Forever 21, H&M.

feathers have been a big trend most recently but i have loved them forever! their silky texture combined with the variety of colors..i love the sense of vintage they evoke in modern clothing :)

Inspiration of the Week

For a somewhat lousy week, I have many inspiring images to share. In a way these images are ideas for a fun-filled weekend. 

1. Take sexy pictures of yourself looking slightly wet and hope that the wonderful Danny Roberts will make you a work of art. 

2. Call up an old friend and mock a Holly Golightly "Hoooow do you do?" voice when they pick up the phone. 

3. Make your messy hair look like avant-garde updo. 

4. ...Have a dance party!!

I plan to do all of these things this weekend and many more. Hope yours is as good as mine.
