Audrey Kathleen Hepburn did not live what one would typically consider a happy life. As a child the German troops invaded her city of Arnhem, in the Netherlands, where she spent most of the war. A woman beset with sadness and self-doubt, Audrey also suffered the loss of her father — not from the war, but by desertion. He left the family and she didn't see him until 20 years later. But after a rather turbulent childhood and two failed marriages, Audrey still managed to find happiness.
